MVC with Entrapment

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 05:18 On Tuesday, January 10, 2012 Fire District No.1 companies were dispatched to Rt. 287 South at exit 12 for a motor vehicle crash with entrapment.  Car 26 (Chief Lipman) arrived on the scene of a single car MVC with the driver heavily entrapped.  The crew from Rescue 56 arrived and started the extrication of the driver.  Due to the heavy front end damage, numerous maneuvers were required to disentangle the driver.  Once access was gained to the patient by removing the doors and lifting the dashboard assembly, it was determined that both of the driver's feet were heavily entrapped in two different locations by the floorboards.  With some precise cutting and spreading the driver's feet were freed and the patient was transported to the hospital by East Millstone FAS and RWJ Paramedics.  Car 26-B (Deputy Chief Fredericks) Car 44-B (Assistant Chief Cuddy) and Engine 26-3 were on the scene providing fire suppression and medical care.

Great work by all responders on this challenging "Pin Job"
